July 22 deals continued...

Yesterday I went shopping and got some awesome deals. Last night I posted about my trip to Jean Coutu and said I would be posting my trip to Walmart. Well, I fell asleep and am just getting time to do it now.

So this picture is missing a few things.  Before I came home I stopped at a friends house and she took a few things! Including the things she took, my total ammount spent was just under $35! Missing from the picture is 1 bottle of Febreze, 1 bottle of Mr. Clean, 1 tube of Crest tooth paste and 1 Secret deodorant.

Here's the breakdown of what I spent:

Whiskas 2kg Catfood: on sale at Walmart for $6.98. I used a coupon for $2 off, so I paid $4.98

Whiskas 1.5kg Kitten food: was on sale at Superstore for $6.99 (wasn't included in Walmart sale) so I price matched and then used a $2 off coupon, so I paid $4.99

Downey Unstopables weren't on sale, but I needed them so I paid full price at $6.98,but I still had a coupon for $1 off, so I paid $5.98.

Mr. Clean: I price matched Jean Coutu's 3 for $5 sale. I bought 6 for $10 and I used 3 coupons for save $2.50 when you buy 2, so I paid $2.50 for 6!

Febreze: I price matched Jean Coutu's 2 for $5 sale. I bought 4 for $10 and used 2 coupons for save $3 when you buy 2, so I paid $4 for 4.

Crest tooth paste: I price matched Jean Coutu's 3 for $5 sale. I bought 6 for $10 and used 2 coupons for save $4.50 when you buy 3, so I paid $1 for 6!!!

Secret deodorant: I'm not sure if it was on sale at Walmart or just regular price (I didn't see a sale tag). It was $2.49 for 1. I bought 6 for $14.94 and used 6 save $2 coupons, so I paid $2.94 for 6!!

So before taxes, I only paid $26.39 for everything in the picture below!!

Needless to say after yesterday's shopping trip my "stock pile cupboard" is pretty much full. If I absolutely need to I might be able to make more room, but I think my next big trip might have to include a new shelf.

That's it for tonight folks! Don't forget, new sales don't start until Friday, so you have until Thursday to get out there and pick up some of these deals for yourself!

Thanks for reading!

Great Deals at Jean Coutu!

Today I got some awesome deals at Walmart and Jean Coutu! I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get everything I expected to (some things were completely sold out) but I am super excited about what I did get!

Yesterday I learned that you can now start using airmiles as cash! The only problem is you can't transfer the points you already earned from your "dream balance"  to your "cash balance" so I decided to start shopping at Jean Coutu again, instead of just price matching at Walmart, so I can start building up my "cash balance".

So because I shopped at 2 separate stores, I took 2 separate pictures of today's purchases with coupons.

First is my trip to Jean Coutu. For everything in this picture I paid just under $15!!!! How did I get it so cheap? Here's the breakdown :

Bounty: Sale price was $3.99 then I used 1 coupon for $1 off,  so I paid $2.99 (before tax)

Mr Clean: Sale price was 3 for $5. I bought  6 for $10  then I used 3 coupons for $2.50 off when you buy 2, so I paid $2.50 for 6 bottles (before tax)

Febreze: Sale Price was 2 for $5. I bought 4 for $10 then I used 2 coupons for $3 off when you buy 2, so I paid $4 for 4 bottles (before tax)

Old Spice Deodorant: Sale Price was 3 for $5 or $1.67 each. I bought 4 for $6.68 then I used 2 coupons for $3 off when you buy 2, so I paid $0.68 for 4 (before tax)

So before tax I really only paid $10.17 for everything!

I'm going to post my Walmart trip as a second post, so stay tuned! Lots of great deals there too!

Where do I find my coupons?

The most common questions I am asked is "where do you get so many coupons?" My short answer is online and from the news paper.
Now if your looking to start saving money with coupons, that's not going to help you very much, but to be honest, that's already more than what I started with. When I decided I was going to start couponing, Google was my best friend. I researched everything I could that was Canadian coupon related.
I get my coupons 2 ways, in the mail and from the newspaper. I used to print them as well but I ran out of ink for my printer and haven't bothered picking up more yet. Not all places will accept printed coupons so I guess I just haven't worried to much about it.
I'm going to share 4 websites that have help me get started. I now follow many more, but these 4 will help you get started.
There are 4 main sites I use for ordering coupons. I at least 2 logins for each site, one in my name and one in my husband's, so I can order at least 2 of each coupon available. Once I order the coupons they are mailed to me and I get them within a week or two. The 4 sites I use for ordering mail out coupons are:
www.save.ca
www.websaver.ca
www.brandsaver.ca
www.gocoupons.ca

The last website I am going to share is a website of a fellow couponer. Her website has a lot of helpful information. I also follow other websites but this is one of the main ones. As well as a website she also has a group on Facebook which I follow more regularly. On her Facebook page she will share links to "hidden" coupons, contests and deal alerts. Her website is:
www.monctoncouponlady.com
The last thing I am going to mention is coupon trading. Just recently I have joined a Moncton Coupon Trading group on Facebook. Most of the time I end up with a lot of coupons that I will never use and not enough of the ones I use regular. Through this group I am able to trade my unwanted coupons for the ones that I want.
So that's it for tonight! Stay tuned, I'm planning a "coupon trip"  this week and am planning on getting some great deals! I'll update with how I made out!

Stock Pile and Organization

When I started couponing I had to find a place for all my stuff, and I had to keep it organized or else I would never be able to find what I was looking for. I had this nice little cupboard above my wash and dryer that I wasn't using for much so I decided that is where I could store my stuff. Now that my stockpile is growing, I've decided I don't have nearly as much room as I would like, but for now, until I get something else, this is going to have to do.

This isn't all of my stuff that I've gotten with coupons, but it is where I keep the majority of it. The laundry stuff, obviously, stays there and the rest I just keep there until I need it and then I get out one of wherever I need and put it in a more convenient place to be used.

So I guess that's it for today! I'll update again when I get my new shelf or find some more great deals.... Which ever comes first.

Intro...

So this is new to me, I've never wrote a blog before. Lately I've been sharing a few pictures (on facebook) of the deals I've gotten through using coupons. I figure most people probably don't give a shit about it but some might. I've been getting more and more questions lately about my coupons so I figured rather then fill up everyone's news feed, and repeating myself over and over again in private messages, I might as well start a blog and if people decide to follow it great, hopefully I can help someone out or at least inspire someone to start saving money themselves.

Now last night I created this blog and spent about an hour writing it, only to lose it when I tried to publish it. So tonight it's going to be short and sweet (or at least shorter).

The picture I posted is my most recent purchase with coupons. I got it all at walmart and I bought other non coupon related items so I don't really have a receipt that shows the exact total, so I did the math and it works out to be around $21-$22 for all the stuff in the picture (taxes included). And here's how I did it:

Bounty, Charmin and Puffs were all on sale at Superstore for $6.99 each. I price matched them at Walmart for a total of $20.97 for all 3. Then I used a coupon for $6.00 off when you buy one Bounty, one Charmin and one Puffs bringing my total down to $14.97 for all 3!

Dawn dish detergent was on sale at Canadian Tire for $1. I had 2 coupons for $1.00 when you buy 2 Dawn products. So I bought 4 for $4.00 and with the 2 $1.00 coupons it brought the total down to $2.00 for all 4 bottles!

Vim was also on sale at Canadian Tire for $1.00 and I had $1.00 off any Vim product. I used both coupons and got both for free!

Old El Paso was on sale at Walmart for $4.00. I had 2 FPC (Free Product Coupon) that I had ordered online from the Old El Paso facebook page and so I used those and got both of those free!

So that brings my grand total to (before taxes)  $16.97!!! So why did it come to $21-$22 with taxes? Because I paid tax on the price of the item BEFORE coupons.... So all that "free"  stuff actually cost me. But hey, who am I to complain? I still think $22 for all that stuff is a pretty good deal!

So that's it for tonight! I will try to keep updating regularly with new purchases and deals, and who knows maybe I'll inspire someone else to start saving with coupons too!
